Nitecore TM20K Rechargeable LED Torch

The Nitecore TM20K Turbo Ready is a ultra high performance tactical torch, with an astonishing maximum output of 20,000 lumens in turbo mode using 19 x Cree XP L2 HD LEDs, which is absolutely amazing considering its size.

Turbo mode can only be activated momentarily while the button is held, and will turn off when released, and it is advised to not continually access the turbo mode when the torch becomes hot to enable it to cool and protect the LEDs from overheating. Two 21700 lithium-ion batteries with a total capacity of 9600 mAh are built into the aluminium CNC machined unibody of the TM20K, which provides lightweight as well as excellent heat dissipition.

The batteries cannot be removed and are charged up inside the torch via the USB-C port on the tail of the torch. Remove the dust cover from the charging port and insert the USB-C end of the included cable into the charging port, and the standard USB-A end can be plugged into a USB power source with at least 5 V / 2 A output, which will take approx. 7 hours, 30 minutes to charge. The TM20K is also equipped with Quick Charge capability for faster charging, and when plugged into a QC USB adaptor/port it will charge the battery in approximately 4 hours, 30 minutes.

The torch will automatically access the Quick Charge mode when connected to a QC USB adaptor/port and the blue charging indicator in the centre of the power button will flash rapidly. If using a 5 V, 2 A adaptor the charging indicator will flash slowly, and once charging is complete in any charging mode the charging indicator will turn solid blue.

Two user modes are available as well as a lockout mode, all which can be selected using the toggle switch on the side of the tail end of the torch. On the opposite side to this there is a mode button for brightness level selection, and the flat tail end has a circular power button to turn the torch on/off and a dual sided tactical button that controls the Turbo Ready or Strobe Ready functions.

Mode 1 is the daily mode which gives constant illumination of the four brightness levels and access to the two special modes of spot light (1 x central LED) or floodlight (18 x outer LEDS). Mode 2 is the tactical mode which will only provide momentary illumination while the button is being held down, with access to the four brightness levels. Turbo Ready and Strobe Ready functions are available in either mode.

In mode 1 press the circular power button to turn the torch on or off, and change the brightness level with the torch on by pressing the side mode button to cycle through ultralow, low, mid and high. To access the special modes press and hold the mode button with the light on to change between spotlight or floodlight and release on the desired mode. Press the mode button once to exit the special modes and return to the previously used brightness level. In mode 2 press and hold the power button for momentary illumination in the previously used brightness setting, and change the brightness level by pressing the mode button to cycle through ultralow, low, mid, high while still holding the power button.

The ambidextrous lever button will access turbo or strobe, depending on which was last used, when either side of the button is held down. This can be accessed from on/off in mode 1, or from off in mode 2, and to change between strobe and turbo press the mode button while still holding down the lever button. The strobe or turbo will turn off when the lever button is released. The memory function will remember the previously used brightness level or special mode when it is next turned on.

To turn on the torch it first needs to be taken out of the default lockout upon arrival, which is done by ensuring the toggle switch is on the lockout icon, then holding down the side mode button while sliding the toggle button along to mode 1 or mode 2, and then releasing the mode button. The light will flash once to indicate the lockout has been exited. To enter the lockout mode again slide the toggle along to the lockout icon and leave it there for at least two seconds to activate lockout. The light will then not be able to turn on with any buttons or movement of the toggle switch until the previous steps have been followed.

A built in blue power indicator in the power button indicates the remaining battery voltage with a series of flashes by pressing the mode button when the torch is off but unlocked. For example if the voltage is 4.2 V it will flash four times, pause and flash twice more. The indicator will also show battery power when the torch is turned on with a solid light for above 50%, a slow flashing light for 10-50% or a rapid flashing light for below 10%, at which point charging is advised asap.

The integrated advance temperature regulation (ATR) technology regulates the output of the TM20K according to the working condition and ambient environment to maintain the optimal performance.

For easy carry the TM20K comes supplied with a heavy duty holster and lanyard, as well as a pocket clip fixed to the body of the torch for clothing attachment.

Note: Always read the operating instructions before first use. Do not repeatedly turn the torch on in turbo if the torch is too hot, do not cover the head of the torch or put it close to other objects while in use and do not submerge the torch in water while it is hot as this may cause damage to the LED and components. It is advised to always place the torch in lockout mode before placing it in a bag etc. for transport.

Note: *Turbo is momentary operation, therefore no constant run-time is available. The turbo brightness will produce extreme heat during long use, therefore it is advised to limit activation when the torch becomes hot. The high brightness level run-time is measured without temperature regulation active, therefore as the TM20K regulates its outputs and adapts to the ambient environment to maintain optimal performance, this may affect the real use run-times.
