The Coast HL7 is an incredibly versatile and easy to use focusing head torch with a maximum output of 305 lumens.
The Coast HL7 features the Pure Beam Twist Focus, producing an ultra view flood beam that gives you the ability to shed light on a big area with a diameter of 3.5 metres when hitting a wall at 1.8 metres away, and the bulls-eye spot beam can illuminate targets as far as 127 meters away, while still giving you an enhanced field of vision with its transition halo. The easy-to-grip twist focusing ring makes it easy to adjust the beam from flood to spot, even while wearing gloves.
A large push button turns the light on and off, while the light control wheel changes the brightness between the maximum of 305 lumens and the minimum of 5 lumens giving you the power to fully adjust the brightness to the level you desire, making it excellent for a number of uses where you might need variable light. The hinged bracket also allows you to angle the light downwards to further assist with the task at hand.
Perfect for professional use, as the included helmet clips make the HL7 hardhat compatible.

This is my second one of these, the first I crunched the tilting mechanism of when working under the car. I live in in the sticks and this is an essential tool for bins, car maintenance, dusk log splitting etc. The torch has adjustable brightness so you can save the battery (more on that later), wide or narrow beam, and a tilting head which you can move down. This is ideal when walking, or when working under the car to get a direct beam where you need it.I use the torch with rechargeable AAA batteries (800mAh each), so you don't get much use in terms of time before you need to replace, maybe a couple of hours max. If I was to go back, I'd get the AA version, which is £10 more expensive (HL27) which uses 3xAA batteries. AA batteries are 2600mAh each, so three times the juice of an AAA, which gives three times to operating time.Straps do start to sag over time, but there's no getting away from this with any of these torch manufacturers.Recommended with the proviso on battery life.
This is an ideal torch for me in that it does all I want for a very reasonable price. It is very bright and I like the fact that the light can be dimmed if necessary. The light can be focused and also the angle can be adjusted relative to the head band. These features are essential for my purposes. I particularly like the fact that there is a simple on/off switch. The majority of head torches have switches which toggle between off/dim/bright/strobe/off which is a pain when all you want is off/on. With all the right features at a very reasonable price what's not to like?
Great head torch, good battery life, easy to operate, brilliant warranty and customer service from Torch Direct keep up the great work.
