The Nitecore TIKI UV is a lightweight, rechargeable key ring torch that has a primary ultraviolet light with a 1000 mW output and 365 nm wavelength from a Luminus SST10 UV LED.
As well as the UV output, the TIKI UV also features two auxiliary white LEDs built in to the body of the torch, with a high colour rendering index (CRI ≥ 90) and a colour temperature of 4500 K that provides an output of 70 lumens on high, 35 lumens on low and a 35 lumen flashing output.
The primary UV light is useful for a range of tasks including currency, ID and bank card checking, as well as verification mark reading, UV ink reading, Smart Water and SelectaDNA. The high CRI of the auxiliary white light means the beam resembles that of morning sunlight, making colours appear more clearly to the human eye and also reducing eye strain, which makes this mode perfect for night reading and it can also be stood up on its head to be used for close range activities.
The integrated 130 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery is charged via a micro USB charging port on the back of the torch (cable not included) and once connected to power a charging indicator under the switch will illuminate to show charging is in progress, and go off once charging is complete after approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Two main UV brightness levels are available, as well as three white aux settings, all of which are controlled by a single push button. To access the main UV output, double press the button to turn the light on in low and then single press to cycle between low / high and hold down the button to turn the light off. Momentary access to UV high is possible by holding the button down while the light is off, which is a useful feature for quickly checking items such as money.
Triple press the button from off to access the auxiliary settings and then single press to cycle through aux white low, aux white high, aux white flash and hold the button down to turn the light off.
A solid ring pull design allows for attachment of keys and can withstand up to 30 kg of weight. A carabiner style key ring clip is included so you can fasten the TIKI UV to a set of keys, a backpack or hang on a key hook.
The TIKI UV is constructed from transparent and frosted PC materials, while the head is constructed from aluminium alloy for excellent heat dissipation capabilities.
