Part of the Spectrum Series, the Maglite Solitaire red LED torch features the classic design of the regular Solitaire torch but it has a red light output instead of white.
Red light is the best colour for protecting the natural night vision of your eyes and reduces eye strain in low light situations. It is a great lighting source for aircraft cockpits, truck cabins, confined spaces and also useful for particular tasks such as map reading, astronomy and animal watching.
It works in the same simple way, insert the single AAA alkaline battery by unscrewing the tail cap and tightening it back up fully, and then twist the head of the Solitaire clockwise to turn on it on slightly in a diffused flood light or continue to loosen the head to provide a smaller circle of focused light. Turn it off by turning the head anti clockwise and fully tightening the head.
Compact, durable and dependable this torch has features and functions exclusive to the Mag name. To distinguish it physically from the original, the Spectrum Solitaire features a red tail cap, but the rest remains the same with waterproofing to IPX7 standard and shock resistance from a height of 2 metres, all housed in a lightweight yet strong aluminium alloy case.
Weighing in at only 24 grams with the battery fitted and 81 mm in length, it fits conveniently into pockets, purses, briefcases or on your keys with the included key ring lanyard. A pocket clip is also included with this model for extra versatility.

Maglite Spectrum Series Red Solitaire AAA LED Torch ( RED , LED ) …fantastic , I had the old version for 35 years and it still works “bulb type” + additional spare original bulb in the cap …. The only thing with the old Version it was with a clear lens so I made one out of some red plastic which did the job…..! The new one is far superior which I would expect after 35 years later , no modifications needed …😂 …. Need to test the new one more maybe write another review later …..! But in general, all is good. 😉👍🏻
Brilliant little torch exactly what I needed for my work. I was suprised just how bright it is for a red led. Together with the old style quality of Maglite products I will be enjoying this product for many years to come if I don't lose it first! This new generation of led torches have made maglite a serious contender in the led torch marketplace again. Excellent service by Torch Direct as usual and I would not hesitate to use them again.
When I powered this torch up, I thought wow. The output from the red LED is very impressive, I have not used it yet in the field, however I am sure it will be a great addition when out walking and navigating in the dark. A very good purchase.
