Ledlenser MH8 Rechargeable LED Head Torch

£75.90 £89.94

The Ledlenser MH8 offers a maximum output of 600 lumens white light from a single high powered LED on the boost setting and comes in a fully black body colour suited for more of a low profile look.

The white light cycles through the four constant settings of low, mid, high, strobe and then off with each press. The boost mode is momentary and is turned on by double pressing the button within 5 seconds in any state. After 10 seconds the boost will revert back to the previous output or off if it was activated with the light off.

The MH8 also features a red, blue and green light which are useful for low level lighting, preserving the users night vision, animal spotting map reading amongst other uses. The white and RGB light can be switched between by holding the button down on the top of the torch for 3 seconds in any state. Once in the RGB mode each press cycles through in the order of red light, green light and blue light. If in any white or colour setting for longer that 5 seconds, the next press will turn the head torch off.

When the light is first turned on, the battery indicator will display a green, yellow or red light for 2 seconds to show the charge status of the battery so that you know when it needs charging. If the battery is very low, the white light will blink four times while in use.

The light can be focused from a flood beam to a spot beam by twisting the focusing bezel outwards and the hinged bracket allows the MH8 to be swivelled within a 60° angle so that you can position the light where you need it. The torch can be taken off the bracket / head band and used hands free.

The MH8 is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack which is included, but it can also use two AA alkaline batteries as a back up if you run out of charge (the run-times will be different when using different battery types). To install or change the batteries the head lamp firstly needs to be removed from the bracket. The battery cover can then be popped open so that you can put in the rechargeable lithium-ion battery or two non-rechargeable AA alkaline batteries.

With the lithium-ion battery installed, it can be charged inside the torch via the magnetic charging point located on the underside. Connect the magnetic end of the included cable to the charging point, and the standard USB at the other end plugs into a suitable USB port or adaptor. The battery indicator light will turn red to show charging is in progress and will go green once charging is complete after approximately 4 hours, 30 minutes. If the battery is inserted the wrong way round, insert the incorrect battery type or you attempt to charge AA batteries the indicator light will blink red/green to show there is a problem.

To prevent accidental activation in transit the MH8 can be put into a lockout state by holding down the button for 5 seconds from off until the light blinks four times rapidly. To unlock the torch hold the button down again for 3 seconds until the light first blink twice, followed by four blinks.

A choice of constant current mode or energy saving mode is available and they will each offer different outputs and run-times. They are changed between by firstly putting the torch into lockout mode and then holding down the button for 7 seconds. The light will either come on at 100% power and decrease until off to indicate energy saving, or it will come on at 5% and increase to 100% before turning off to indicate constant current. The light is defaulted to energy saving mode.

A great head torch for everyday use and activities such as climbing, camping and hiking.

Does what it says on the tin (or in this case, in the item description on the website)

For my work (pest control)- excellent comfort for long periods of use both indoor for short range needs and a good beam for outdoor use.- good battery life and can easily charge in the vehicle but can take normal batteries out of the packet if you don't have that facility and run out.- tough and easy to focus when wearing gloves.Fishing:- having the battery built into the actual light unit at the front means that you can rest your head on a pillow rather than on a battery pack. It's comfy enough for me to call asleep forgetting it's still on my head.....- simple but effective light intensity settings and more than strong enough for long distances.- the three different colour lights are very useful and are plenty bright enough to see clearly with each of the red, green and blue.Overall:- very happy with this headtorch.
