The Fenix TK20R UE is a compact rechargeable torch, which is an update to the popular TK20R V2.0 model with the most notable update being the newly developed and patented FlexiSensa rotary control switch which toggles between Tactical, Duty and lock modes via single handed tail cap operation.

Equipped with a powerful Luminus SFT70 LED and powered by one high capacity 21700 rechargeable lithium-ion battery, the Fenix TK20R UE puts out a superb performance with a beam distance of 465 metres.

The included Fenix 21700 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery charges inside the torch via the USB-C charging port for faster charging. The hidden USB-C port is revealed by twisting down the neck of the torch, and the cable can then be inserted and connected to a USB power source. The LED charging indicator next to the charging port will go red to indicate charging is in progress and will turn green once charging is complete after approximately 3 hours, 30 minutes when charging the included battery.

The LED next to the charging port is also a battery level indicator (screw down the neck to reveal) and will light up for 3 seconds when the torch is first turned on, with either a green, green flashing, red or red flashing light to show the battery power remaining and notify you when the battery needs charging.

The TK20R UE features a dual tactical tail switch, simply turn the rotary switch to select either Tactical, Duty or Lock modes. The torch is then turned on and off with the tactical tail switch by fully pressing it down, and it also offers a momentary function by half pressing the button (the light will turn off when the button is released). Once the torch is on, the functional switch will cycle through each output for the mode selected. The last used brightness setting will be remembered next time the light is turned on. The lockout function prevents accidental activation and the torch will not turn on when in this setting.

The torch will generate a lot of heat when used in turbo, therefore the overheat protection will automatically reduce the output when the internal temperature reaches 60° in order to protect the LED from overheating, and once the torch has cooled the turbo mode can be reselected. If the battery voltage drops below the pre-set level the torch is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until eco output is reached, at which point the light will flash 3 times every 5 minutes to remind you to charge the battery.

For weapon mounted use the TK20R UE is compatible with the Fenix ALG-00 gun mount.

A great torch from Fenix

I have been using this torch for a few weeks now and I have to say that I am very impressed with it. I usually go for a well known USA brand of torch, which I have used for many years now. However I decided to go for this particular torch as an upgrade for my EDC torch, a well known USA brand. The things that impress me with this torch from Fenix are as follows: The great build quality, it is well engineered and very smooth in its operation. The lens on the torch is toughened glass and not plastic which disperses light better. The various functions of the torch. For example the duty and tactical modes. I particularly like the tactical dual tail switch. You can easily switch from duty mode to tactical mode with one swift flick of the switch without the need to keep pressing the button to find which setting you want. In addition, I like the lockout function which saves the torch from coming on when shoved in your pocket. On tests the battery life I find that on duty full beam mode you get about two and half hours run time. On duty mode mid setting I get between six to seven hours run time. I have not tested the low mode duration of the torch. The torch does flash when the battery is getting low and needs to be charged up or a battery change, which is useful in my view. The torch is compact enough to fit into your pocket, although a bit fatter than my other torch from the USA brand. However it is a bit smaller in length, which to me is a bonus. Brightness wise this torch is bright, very bright in fact, and is far better in my opinion for my needs than the torch its replacing. The 21700 battery is big and to be honest gives the torch all of its functions as it should do. I would suggest buying just one spare battery if like me you are out and about during dark hours just for peace of mind as this torch will not run on standard batteries. The torch has a built in charging facility which is fully sealed which you screw up or down to gain access to it. You will need a battery charger that can take a 21700 battery if you prefer to use a separate charger. Overall yes I would recommend this torch to people as it is a tough, waterproof, reliable and a very bright torch, it is now my primary EDC torch. The service from Torches direct is brilliant and personally I would not go elsewhere to buy torches. Am really pleased with the purchase.

The only area light you will ever need

I cannot speak highly enough of the Nitecore NWL20. One of the key features that places this above many others in the field is the replaceable battery. This means for example, that I now carry a spare battery in a battery case which increases the time the light will work up to around 16 hours. It was this particular feature that led me to buy 2. I have found the NWL rugged and reliable, with no indication that will change any time soon. A number if its positive features are shared by other area lights (the magnetic base, carabiner clip on handle, fully adjustable etc), but principally the ability to extend run time pays dividends and sets the NWL20 above the competition. Service from Torch Direct was, of course and as always, faultless.

A slim and well made torch

The Olight i13 Plus penlight was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, seen when viewing the latest arrivals. It is a very well made torch, interesting to use - press the “on” button until it clicks and the light is dim. Press the button twice in rapid succession and the light is very bright, ensure that you have pressed until the click is heard. This way of turning on the light takes a bit of practice but is effective. The body of the torch is slender - it takes 2 AAA batteries - and has an attractive design over the body length, rather than a standard knurled finish. Mine has my initials laser etched into it. This is a useful torch for clipping inside a pocket.

The best torch is the one you have with you when you need it. This is my second Mini-AAA (the first lives in the car). This torch is so light you can forget you are carrying it until it's needed. The switch mechanism is a simple twist, beam range is amazing, run time excellent. No multi-mode nonsense either.

Decent Weight to performance.

For the size and weight, this headlight delivers with very well-thought-out modes. I have the extra battery pack for back up, but on the whole I use the Headlamp as is. The second light setting I use the most and it lasts a good long time. The red is easy to use on the buttons, perfect for camping. The best yet for me, and I have plenty.

Great torch for professional use

I knew that having a good torch was essential to my job but I didn't want to spend loads of money. This torch packs a punch and has a very handy clip that keeps it safe in my pocket when I'm leaning over railings and climbing ladders. The powerful beam helps me to identify leaks and other issues that an inferior torch wouldn't show up. I'm happy with the battery life. Despite working an 8-10 hour day, I only use the torch for a a couple of hours total
