Coast FL19 Dual Colour LED Head Torch

The Coast FL19 is a wide angle flood beam head torch and offers a maximum output of 365 lumens white light from a single high powered LED and also has two red side LEDs.

The red light is useful for low level lighting, preserving the users night vision and animal spotting. A single push button on top of the light cycles through the outputs in the order of high, low and red with each press.

The headband is comfortable as well as adjustable and features reflective material for safety and additional visibility in low light. The FL19 is also hard hat compatible and includes four clips to keep the headband securely on the helmet.

Powered by three AAA alkaline batteries, the FL19 has a run-time of up to 18 hours 15 minutes on the low setting and a hinged bracket allows for beam adjustment to aim the light where you need it.

Too bright

Perhaps I should have looked at the spec more before buying. But we bought this head torch for country walks in the winter when it starts to get dark earlier. Unfortunately, this head torch is so bright that you better hope you do not encounter others walking towards you as it is blinding. Makes it a bit of pain to use frankly.

The main beam on this torch is great, really bright for walking the dog on country lanes. The red beam is great as a fisherman giving nice low light when fishing at night.

I'm very happy with this device. Initially I thought the slider mechanism felt a bit flimsy, but I have now worked through my stock of old batteries and everything works well. A bonus for me is that it will also test button cells, which my previous tested did not. Overall, a good piece of kit at a good price.

Amazing little torch

Even through I’d check the dimensions the torch was much smaller than I expected when it arrived. It feels great in hand, very robust and machined to a high standard. Various modes to choose from and when on high it is amazing how much light this tiny torch produces. Run time seems fine so far also. If in doubt, buy it and you won’t regret. As a side note, Torch Direct…. Quick and efficient service. Full marks :)
