Nitecore NU33 Rechargeable LED Head Torch

The Nitecore NU33 is a compact, rechargeable LED head torch offering triple light sources that include a main white LED output as well as an auxiliary white light and a red light output.

The main white light provides a maximum output of 700 lumens from a white LED and uses a unibody optical lens system for a high light transmission of 94%, which produces a soft 100° wide angle beam for excellent peripheral vision as well as reduced eye strain. This mode is perfect for night running, camping and other outdoor adventures. To the right of the main light there is a red auxiliary LED that offers a constant red output and a red slow flashing setting. Red light preserves your night vision and is good for wildlife observation, astronomy and night photography.

There is also a white auxiliary LED that has a high colour rendering index (CRI ≥ 90) and provides a low output of 50 lumens and an ultralow output of 6 lumens. The high CRI means the beam resembles that of morning sunlight, making colours appear more clearly to the human eye and also reducing eye strain, which makes this mode perfect for night reading and close range activities.

Two push buttons are located on top of the NU33, a larger power button and a smaller mode button. The power button turns the light on and can directly access either the main white light or auxiliary white from off depending on how the button is pressed. To access the main white light hold the power button for 1 second, and once on each press will cycle through mid, high and turbo. To access the auxiliary white light double press the button from off, and once on each press will cycle between ultralow and low.

To directly access the red light, instead use the smaller mode button and hold for one second from off, and once on use the power button to cycle between constant red and flashing red. When the light is on in any mode simply hold either the power button or mode button for 1 second to turn the light off again. You can also use the mode button to change between the modes while the light is on with single presses that will cycle main white, auxiliary white and red light.

Two special modes of SOS and beacon are also available, and can be accessed in any state with a double press of the mode button, and once accessed the power button will cycle between the two with each press. To exit the special modes simply double press the mode button again to go back to the previous output.

Four battery indicators are built into the side of the torch and will display remaining battery power when the mode button is pressed once while the light is off. All four lights is approx. 100%, three is approx. 75%, two is approx. 50% and one is approx. 25% and the light should be charged as soon as possible. To prevent accidental activation there is also a lockout function which can be done by holding down both buttons for 2 seconds until the main white light flashes 3 times. To unlock do the same again and the light will turn on in the ultralow auxiliary white.

The NU33 has a built-in integrated 2000 mAh lithium-ion battery that is charged via the USB-C charging port on the bottom of the light. Reveal the port by lifting the dust cover and then simply plug the included USB-C cable into the charging port and the other end into a suitable USB power source. The charging indicators up the side will flash in turn before becoming solid, and once all four indicators are solid after approx. 1 hour, 30 minutes the charging will be complete.
