Fenix E18R V2.0 Rechargeable LED Torch

The Fenix E18R V2.0 rechargeable torch updates the popular E18R, maintaining it's is a compact size, but with an output increase from 750 lumens to 1200 lumens on the turbo output from an upgraded Luminus SST40 LED.

It is powered by one 16340 lithium-ion rechargeable battery and included is the Fenix ARB-L16-700P lithium-ion battery, which is recommended, but it is also compatible with the other three Fenix 16340 battery versions. A CR123A lithium metal non-rechargeable battery can also be used, however charging must not be attempted with a CR123A battery inside.

The battery is still charged inside the torch, but now uses USB-C charging instead of magnetic charging for faster charging times. With the torch off, remove the dust cover from the USB-C port located on the front underside of the torch, and plug the included cable into the torch one end and the other end into a USB power source.

An LED charging indicator in the button will go red to show charging is in progress and will turn green once charging is complete after approximately 1 hour, 20 minutes when charging the included battery. Once charging is complete remember to insert the dust cover properly and check the tail cap is tight to ensure the IP68 rating is maintained.

A single side switch controls all functions, and activates the torch in the last used output (excluding turbo & strobe) by holding the button for 0.5 seconds. Once turned on the brightness can be changed with single presses to cycle through moonlight, low, mid, high and turbo. Hold the switch for 0.5 seconds again to turn the light off. Strobe is activated by holding the button for 1.2 seconds and a single press will exit strobe.

To prevent accidental activation the E18R V2.0 has a physical and electronic lockout function. The electronic lockout is accessed by two quick presses of the button while the light is off and the torch will blink twice to indicate it has entered lock-out mode. The physical lockout is achieved by turning the pocket clip so that it sits over the button, meaning it cannot be accidentally pressed when not in use.

A built-in battery level indicator displays the battery status for 3 seconds when the torch is turned on. It will show either a solid green, green flashing, solid red or red flashing light. There is also a low battery voltage warning function that is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level when the voltage drops below the preset level. Once it reaches moonlight output it will blink red to remind you to charge your 16340 battery.

Intelligent overheat protection will automatically downshift the brightness slightly if the internal temperature reaches 60°C or above in turbo mode, and once the torch has cooled it will allow the user to reselect the higher outputs.

The base of the torch is magnetic, which is useful for hands free operation when carrying out tasks such as car maintenance.

Tested in laboratory conditions to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x ARB-L16-700P 16340 700 mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery under the temperature of 21±3°C and humidity of 50% - 80%. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.
