The Tank007 UVC31 is a powerful ultraviolet torch that delivers UV light with a wavelength of 365 nm from a Nichia 6 W UV LED, and features a stylish purple bezel to easily identify your UV torch from your regular torch. This torch is best suited to uses such as forensic detection of bodily fluids, pet stains and in techniques used for identifying mechanical leaks.

This torch provides a beam pattern that comprises of a focused central hotspot surrounded by wider circumference of spill light. The central beam diameter is 5 cm and the outer beam diameter is 15 cm when at a distance of 15 cm, 12 cm and 34 cm respectively when at a distance of 38 cm.

The torch turns on and off with the rubberised tail cap for easy one handed operation. A black filter absorbs 99% of visible light but provides high transmission in the UV wavelength of light that is designed to target the 365 nm wavelength this torch provides, and UV400 100% protection glasses are included to protect your eyes, and also help filter out the purple light to illuminate fluorescent objects more easily.

Included is a Tank007 18650 2600 mAh lithium-ion battery which charges inside the torch via the USB-C charging port for faster charging. With the torch off, remove the dust cover from the USB-C port located on the neck of the torch, and plug the included cable into the torch one end and the other end into a USB power source.

The LED charging indicator next to the port will go red to indicate charging is in progress and will turn green once charging is complete. Once the charging cable has been removed, remember to insert the dust cover properly and check the tail cap is tight to ensure the IPX7 rating is maintained.

Constructed of tough T6061 aluminium it is drop resistant up to 1.5 metres and is waterproof to IPX7 rating.

Note: Use of the included glasses is required with this UV torch as the power output is stronger than other models. The UV intensity output is 72000 μw/cm2 at 15 cm distance and 30000 μw/cm2 at 38 cm distance.

Illuminating

On the lowest level the light is a little green. Much better at the other illumination level. Takes a while to charge through the USB interface. The battery lasts well. Good for walking the dog at night around poorly illuminated roads.

What do I think of my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch. Ace!

I bought my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch quite a while ago. It has taken me a while to get to know what this amazing bit of kit can do! Well it's a torch! yes but's it's more than that! Yes I know it can be useful when taking the rubbish out to find the item you dropped out of the bag blah blah. Now I am a bit older & a bit more savvy, I have bought some work trousers with many pockets in them for all the things it seems you need to carry around in life. In the long pocket next to my Biro pen & propelling pencil is my torch with it's lanyard attached. So I always have it with me. I have found it useful in many ways, one of which was when I broke down in my very old car, I knew I would have to wait a long time for recovery, so I looked up on my phone what to do on my phone, while changing the light settings on my torch when I needed to find the problem. I had a Hi Vis jacket on, but i was in the middle of nowhere. So I used the flashing setting when the van got near so he could find me that bit easier. Yes it's still a torch you say, yes, another time I was walking down an alleyway on a short cut home, when out popped some unwanted people who I was unsure of, as I got near them they asked if they could use my phone, with that I selected the brightest mode, shone it in their faces to temporarily blind them & ran as fast as I could. So for me it's more than a torch. Something I hardly ever leave home without, useful when you lift drops his keys in an unlit pub car park in the rain on a very cold night.
Other stuff. I find the small screen that displays various different things invaluable. Especially if you are going out on a cold winters night, has the torch got enough of a charge, well you can check that, the slimness of it also comes in handy when in your best bib & tucker (a suit) you can easily hide it in your inside pocket. How long does it last, a long time, I have put a bit of string on a label for when I charge it, I charge it so infrequently I nearly forget which one it is, I do use it a lot! Cost, yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for, very good quality. I really recommend it! Mister XR

They don't deliver yesterday, but . . . . .
