The CRI-2300 is Unilite's first high CRI site light and is part of their range of hexagonal rechargeable LED Site lights, but this one differs from the others with its ability to be mains powered and use the built-in rechargeable battery.

It has an output of 2300 lumens from a 20 W COB LED on the maximum setting and has three output levels of low, mid and high to chose from, as well as a choice of five colour temperatures of 2700 K, 3500 K, 4500 K, 5500 K and 6500 K.

Colour rendering index (CRI) is a measurement of a light sources ability to faithfully reveal the true colour of an object in comparison to a natural light source such as sunlight and is measured between 0-100. The CRI-2300 has a high CRI 96+ value, which means the quality of the light source is extremely good and shows colours in their true form and also helps reduce eye strain that lower CRI lights can cause.

Offering excellent light spread and power the CRI-2300 features three button on the back to control all the settings. The top button is the on/off button and next to it is the power level indicator that consists of five lights representing 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100% power. When it is turned on the power level indicators will light up to show remaining power.

Once turned on the brightness and colour temperature can then be altered to suit the task at hand. The middle button controls the colour temperature and has five lights next to it, each with the colour temperature wrote underneath, and each press of the button will cycle through these with a green light to show which colour temperature you are on. Similarly the bottom button controls the brightness output with each press cycling through low, mid, high. The three lights next to it have the lumen output wrote underneath and a green light will indicate which output you are on.

Utilising a 11.1 V 4400 mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery, the CRI-2300 has a run time of up to 2 hours on the highest setting. The battery is easily recharged by lifting the dust cover on the back of the light and inserting the charging cable into the charging port at one end and inserting the other end into the mains socket. The included mains adaptor comes with four different plug attachments for use in multiple countries such as UK, USA, Australia and in the EU. The light can also be used continuously whilst connected to the mains, even with a fully charged battery, which allows you to save the battery power if access to a mains socket is available when using the light.

While charging the five charging indicators on the back will display charging progress with one light flashing to start with before becoming solid and the next light flashing until eventually all five LEDs are solid after approximately 3 hours, 30 minutes full charge time.

It is made from industrial strength aircraft grade aluminium with super tough florescent yellow centre for increased visibility, and also features a large aluminium heat sink for heat dispersion.

A stand is tucked away at the back and can be pulled out and rotated within a 180° range so that the light can be angled in the perfect direction and it also doubles as a useful carry handle when pulled all the way out. The bottom of the stand features a large hole where the separately sold super strong magnet can be attached so that the light can be stuck to magnetic surfaces.

This site light is also compatible with the extendable single and double head tripods that are available to purchase separately.

Night into day!

I bought this light principally for caving, having previously had an old Oldham mining light with a lead acid cell! I haven’t actually used yet for caving but just going out at night is incredible. It almost turns night into day. I particularly like the simple single control. Turn one way for flood, the other for spot and press the bit in the middle for both! In this age of complicated menus and App controlled devices this is a welcome relief. Charge life seems amazing too and far more than I would ever need down a cave but that’s a reassuring comfort. My only reservation is the IP66 rating suggesting it can’t be submerged. I’m afraid I may have to test that out as I go through some sump somewhere but it won’t be for long and it won’t be deep so I hope it will be ok. I’m hoping it will be ok in a waterfall!

From 2 lumens to 47

Have two of the original 2 lumen Solitaires which got phased out of use with the built in torch on a mobile phone and have now gone back to the current 47 lumen LED Solitaires as having a torch on the key ring is more handy than faffing with a phone. I considered a bulb swap on the old Solitaire but not much of a leap to 15 lumens and the bulb + postage was not far off getting a then 30something lumen new LED torch, so now we are at 47 lumens and the aftermarket LED conversion bulbs haven't changed much and the costs still leaned in favour of just getting a new torch.
Crisp white light, lights up an average sized room with ease, so ideal for getting from or to the car in darkness and up or down stairs in darkness. The two originals have been going for over twenty years and where never that great on lumen output but worked and took some abuse. Still the same bodywork as the original just with up to date internals and LED. Leave a spare AAA battery in the car glove box for that moment you run out of power... Might be other brighter or more complex torches out there, but the basic twist on or off or remove the lenses cap for candle mode works for me. Simple, robust, AAA battery so easy to get anywhere and cheap.
I bought 2x gift boxed and they came with Energiser Max battery which was expiry dated to 12/30 so no complaints there.

Big improvement on earlier 2D model upgraded to LED bulb

The ML300LX with its dedicated LED module is a huge improvement on earlier models.
This torch replaced an earlier 2D model of mine originally fitted with a krypton filament bulb. I improved this by fitting a replacement LED 'bulb', but the ML300LX is in a different league; the dedicated LED module significantly increasing brightness. The variable brightness control is a useful feature.

Ideal Headtorch

I have only used this torch once, but found it to give a very good beam of light. I like that it's rechargeable as I have found that some headtorches aren't very easy to replace the batteries.
It suits my purpose well.
I wouldn'd have any hesitation in recomending it to others looking for a new headtorch.

A good and very simple head torch to use

I purchased this torch for a friend who had previously had head torches but found the various settings extremely fiddly to operate when in use. The criteria was for ease of use, light weight, a white light and focusing was not a requirement.

This torch utilises a single switch to activate all the modes. On/off and the different light settings. Couldn't be simpler.

The torch may seem expensive, but you get a high quality product that does what it says on the tin.

Fantastic Headtorch for running

Had one of these for 2 years now. Ran two 100 milers and a 100k overnight, used it loads for off-road running. I bought a spare battery (as per ultra running kit list), but in all honesty 1 battery lasted two full nights on the medium "flood" setting. I haven't had to use the "spot" light, the flood is good enough. The ONLY thing that bugs me, is you need to wear a hat/bandanna/sweatband to stop the light bouncing down. It's not a big issue though and certainly won't stop me buying another one for the Mrs.
