Nitecore LR12 2-in-1 LED Lantern And Torch

The Nitecore LR12 is a 2 in 1 unit that can be used as a hand torch and a lantern and has a maximum output of 1000 lumens from a Cree XP-L HD V6 LED.

When the diffuser is retracted it can be used as a regular hand held torch and the smooth reflector throws the beam up to 166 metres. When the diffuser is extended by twisting the body of the torch it turns into a lantern offering 360° flood light illumination.

The versatile lighting makes it great for camping as using the included lanyard you can hang it in the tent with the diffuser out and then easily twist the diffuser away and use it as a hand torch through the campsite. It is also great for inspecting under the bonnet as the magnetic base allows it to attach to metal surfaces, such as your car or a surface in a workshop.

Fully tightening the tail cap will turn the LR12 on and loosening the tail cap will turn it off. Loosening and tightening the tail cap within two second intervals will cycle through the brightness levels of low, mid, high, turbo and beacon.

The advanced temperature regulation module allows the LR12 to regulate its output and adapt to the ambient environment to maintain optimal performance.

Powered by two CR123A lithium metal non-rechargeable batteries or one 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery (not included).

Please note that the Nitecore and Fenix micro USB 18650 batteries are not compatible with the LR12.

Brilliant little torch

Bright as the light of Christ himself and a handy little pocket size.I was using a Cateye bike light when walking the dog in winter which did a good job, but I wanted something a bit more multipurpose that had a mode that didn't dazzle me.My main criteria were:- used 18650 Li batteries; I had a few spare lying around- 400+ lumens max; wanted 'bright' to be reasonably bright- a mode to preserve night vision; sometimes you just want to be able to see if you're about to walk into a branch, rather than illuminate the entire parkWhat this has:- a 'very dim' mode, which is great when it's really dark- a 'ridiculously bright' mode, when you need to warn ships of danger- a couple of more reasonable modes- a fun pop out diffuser; actually very good at bathing the local vicinity in a warm glow- a magnetic base; didn't realise how damn useful that would be until I had one- waterproof; you can get caught in the rain or drop it in a puddle and not have to worryWhat this lacks:- a button; the twist on/off wouldn't normally be an issue, apart from the fact that the diffuser also uses twisting to pop in and out, so sometimes you're just trying to turn the damn thing on and the diffuser starts sliding outHowever, apart from that one niggle, a genuinely brilliant bit of kit that I am really glad I got and would highly recommend to anyone.

Excellent Torch

Having had several Maglites over the years, most of which were totally unreliable after a while, I decidied to spend more to get something that worked reliably. Hopefully, this torch will be reliable although it's too early to say yet. It looks well made and has several brightness levels as well as a strobe and SOS mode. Max brightness is very bright and the beam focus can be adjusted. TorchDirect made the buying process simple and efficient.

Really pleased with the 12k, build quality is as you would expect from Nitecore, Easy to hold and operating is easy. The display with power level and illumination time left is really useful. Was looking at the 20k Nitecore but thought that may be a bit big, so went for the 12k. When its in Turbo mode trust me you dont need anything else. Also service and delivery time was excellent from the supplier
