The Ledlenser MH10 offers a maximum output of 600 lumens white light from a single Xtreme LED and also has a red light on the back of the head torch for increased viability.
Two coloured filter lens and the lens holder are included with the MH10. One is red, which is useful for low level lighting, preserving the users night vision and astronomy. The other is green which is good for hunting and map reading.
There are three lighting modes available giving the user a choice of how the brightness settings are cycled through. Mode 1 cycles through in the order of high, mid, low and off with each press. Mode 2 cycles through the settings in the opposite direction of low, mid, high and off. Mode 3 cycles between high and low, and unlike mode 1 & 2 which are energy saving (brightness gradually lowers for longer run-time), this mode offers constant current output to maintain a higher brightness for a shorter run-time.
Switching between modes is simple and is done by holding down the button while the torch is off. While holding the button the light will blink once to indicate mode 1 after 10 seconds, blink twice to indicate mode 2 after 13 seconds and blink 3 times to indicate mode 3 after 16 seconds.
The advanced focus system allows you to focus the light from spot to flood by twisting the bezel on the head of the torch. On the highest setting when focused into a spot, with a full charge, the MH10 can throw the beam up to 150 metres range.
The MH10 also features a lock out mode to prevent accidental activation when not in use and can be activated the same way as changing modes, except you hold the button for 16 seconds until the light blinks three times. To come out of lock out mode, hold the button for 5 seconds until the light blinks once.
Powered by an 18650 lithium-ion battery the MH10 has a run-time of 10 hours on the highest setting (down to 1 lumen) from a full charge. When the battery level drops to 10% or below, the built-in power indicator will notify you with three blinks of the white light.
The battery goes in a separate battery compartment that sits on the back on the headband, which helps to evenly distribute weight. The battery is also charged inside the battery holder via the micro USB port which is revealed by lifting the dust cover. Insert the included charging cable into the micro USB port and the other end into a computer or compatible USB adaptor (not included). A red light will come on to show charging is in progress and will go green once charging is complete.

I've used head torches for years in some pretty rough conditions but I've never spent this kind of money on one before so really took my time doing the research on what model to buy and I came to the conclusion that, for me, there isn't one perfect head torch that ticks all the boxes. My research also lead me down the rabbit hole of the ‘ANSI FL-1 standard’, regulated vs unregulated output and the whole murky world of how burn times are advertised (for the record, Torch Direct give by far the most complete and useful info on the torches they sell). The MH10 is a great head torch, I chose it for three main reasons (1) manual focus on the beam from wide to spot, (2) the fact you can manually switch between unregulated and regulated/constant output modes and (3) weight. I’ve only had the MH10 about 5 weeks and I’ve used it almost every night for short periods (admittedly in fine weather) and it’s been excellent, the output is super bright and it’s very comfortable to wear. My two niggles are with the focusing bezel and the coloured filters. The focusing bezel doesn’t run smoothly from fully wide beam to tight spot, the bezel sticks and you have to kind of pull the bezel out (as if you were trying to pull the bezel off the front of the torch) whilst you twist. I really wanted a red LED option on the torch I bought but for all the times I’d need it I thought a red push on filter would be fine – well I’d love to hear from any MH10 owners who have managed to get the coloured filters to stay on longer than 20 secs because mine won’t, at all, ever! Overall, the MH10 is a great head torch, time will tell if it stands up to the rigours of a British winter.
Really good product (the 2nd that I have bought). Torch Direct are always approachable and helpful with their backup and advice.
Brilliant best head torch to date-well worth 5 points.
