Fenix UC35 V2.0 Rechargeable LED Torch

The Fenix UC35 V2.0 rechargeable LED torch is the updated version of the popular UC35.

It has had an update in lumen output from 960 lumens to 1000 lumens in turbo mode, but the biggest improvement is the beam range which now reaches an impressive 266 metres, which is an increase of 66 metres, all thanks to the addition of the Cree XP-L HI V3 LED.

The included Fenix 18650 3400 mAh lithium-ion battery is charged inside the torch with the supplied micro USB cable. Remove the dust cover from the micro USB port, located on the neck of the torch, and plug the cable into the torch one end and the other end into a computer/laptop or a suitable USB mains/car adaptor (sold separately).

An LED indicator inside the switch will go red to indicate charging is in progress and will turn green once charging is complete. The charging time for the included 3400 mAh capacity battery is approximately 3 hours, 30 minutes.

Five brightness levels, plus strobe mode are available and operated with the tactical tail switch and side functional switch. The UC35 V2.0 is turned on and off with the tactical tail switch by fully pressing it down, and it also offers a momentary function by half pressing the button (the light will turn off when the button is released). Once the torch is on, the side switch will cycle through turbo, moonlight, low, mid, high with each press.

Strobe is activated by holding the side switch for 0.5 seconds when the torch is turned on. A single press will return the torch to the previous brightness setting.

The switch features a built-in battery indicator that displays the battery status for 3 seconds every time the torch is turned on when using an 18650 battery. A solid green light indicates saturated, flashing green is sufficient, solid red is poor and flashing red is critical. The battery indicator also acts as a low voltage warning light while the torch is in use when using an 18650 battery.

The overheat protection will automatically reduce the turbo lumen output if the temperature of the torch reaches 60°C or above in order to protect the LED from overheating. Once the torch has cooled to below 60°C the output will gradually increase again.

When using an 18650 battery, if the battery voltage drops below 3 V the torch is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until moonlight output is reached, at which point the battery indicator will flash red to remind you to charge the battery.

Tested to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x Fenix ARB-L18-3400 18650 lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.
