Fenix PD36R Rechargeable LED Torch

The PD36R is Fenix's first pocket rocket to use a 21700 lithium-ion rechargeable battery and the first hand torch to use a USB Type-C charging port for faster and more efficient charging.

Utilising a Luminus SST-40 LED it offers a maximum output of 1600 lumens on turbo and throw the beam up to 283 metres distance.

The included Fenix 21700 5000 mAh lithium-ion battery is charged inside the torch with the supplied USB Type-C cable. Remove the dust cover from the USB port, located on the neck of the torch, and plug the cable into the torch one end and the other end into a computer/laptop or a suitable USB mains/car adaptor.

An LED indicator inside the switch will go red to indicate charging is in progress and will turn green once charging is complete. The charging time for the included 21700 5000 mAh capacity battery is approximately 4 hours. Always replace the dust cover after charging to maintain the dust ingress protection.

Five brightness levels, plus strobe mode are available and operated with the tactical tail switch and side functional switch. The PD36R is turned on and off with the tactical tail switch by fully pressing it down, and it also offers a momentary function by half pressing the button (the light will turn off when the button is released). Once the torch is on, the side switch will cycle through turbo, eco, low, mid, high with each press.

Strobe is activated by holding the side switch for 0.5 seconds when the torch is turned on. A single press will return the torch to the previous brightness setting. The last used brightness setting (excluding strobe) will be remembered next time the light is turned on.

The switch features a built-in battery indicator that displays the battery status for 3 seconds every time the torch is turned on when using the included battery. A solid green light indicates saturated, flashing green is sufficient, solid red is poor and flashing red is critical. The battery indicator also acts as a low voltage warning light while the torch is in use when using the included battery.

The overheat protection will automatically reduce the turbo or high lumen output if the temperature of the torch reaches 50°C or above in order to protect the LED from overheating. Turbo will downshift to 550 lumens and high will downshift to 450 lumens. There is also a timed downshift that will reduce the output of the turbo to 900-550 lumens after 15 minutes constant use.

When using the included battery, if the battery voltage drops below 3 V the torch is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until eco output is reached, at which point the battery indicator will flash red to remind you to charge the battery.

The two way body clip allows easy attachment to a pocket, clothing or backpack and the included holster and lanyard make carrying it easy.

Tested to ANSI/PLATO FL1 standard using 1 x Fenix ARB-L21-5000 21700 lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Results may vary between torch, battery and environments.
