The Nitecore i4000R is the first torch in the i Series range, featuring an impressive output of 4400 lumens from 4 x Cree XP-L2 V6 LEDs and the ability to charge the battery inside the torch, using USB Type C for faster charging.
It also features the upgraded 2nd generation Strobe Ready dual button interface, that has a strobe ready pedal design inset into the tail cap more to prevent accidental activation, while still enabling fast and easy access to the strobe in any mode even when wearing gloves, making it a perfect tactical torch with true single handed operation.
The i4000R is also the first torch to use the revolutionary 21700 i series proprietary battery (NL2150HPi), designed with dual way output and positive/negative terminals at both ends of the battery, as well as a high energy density. It enables a highly efficient output by minimising the loss of power due to internal resistance.
Due to the high output, the i4000R can only be used with the Nitecore NL2150HPi 21700 5000 mAh, 15 A high discharge battery and this is the only battery that can be charged inside the torch. Two CR123A lithium metal non rechargeable batteries or two rechargeable RCR123A lithium-ion batteries can be used with the included adaptor as a backup, however the turbo setting is unavailable if you are using these batteries and they also cannot be charged inside the torch.
With the NL2150HPi battery inserted into the torch, the battery can be charged whilst inside the torch using the supplied USB type C charging lead. Ensure the tail cap is tightly screwed on and then reveal the Type C USB port, that is located on the tail of the torch, by twisting the aluminium alloy dust cover. Plug the included cable into the charging port and the other end into a computer/laptop or a suitable USB adaptor. The blue charging indicator light will slowly flash while charging and turn solid when charging is complete. A full charge takes approximately 4 hours, 15 minutes when using an adaptor with a 5 V, 2 A output.
Five brightness levels as well as strobe are available and are operated with the dual tail buttons. The light is turned on and off with the circular tail cap button, which can also be half pressed to provide momentary illumination until it is released. Once turned on single press the mode button (strobe ready lever) to cycle ultra-low, low, mid, high and the setting will be remembered next time the torch is turned on. Momentary turbo is accessed by holding down the mode button while the light is on, and once released the light will return to the previous setting.
The strobe can be accessed in two ways, either momentarily with the light off by holding down the mode button, or constantly with the light on by triple pressing the mode button, which will be remembered if it is the last used mode. As an extra defence feature, the strobe randomly changes frequency which is useful for disorienting an attacker as the human eye cannot cope with the fast changing strobe.
A built in blue LED on the head indicates the remaining battery voltage with a series of flashes when a battery is first inserted, and while in use the LED will remain lit if power is above 50%, flash slowly when power is below 50% and flash rapidly once power drops below 10% to ensure you know how much charge it has.
The included NTH20 tactical holster is made from sturdy plastic that keeps the torch in place and allows for immediate quick draw when required without having to lift a flap up first, and provides a convenient way for carrying your torch.
The integrated advance temperature regulation (ATR) technology regulates the output of the i4000R according to the working condition and ambient environment to maintain the optimal performance.
Turbo: 4400 lumens; 30 minutes run-time; 230 m beam range*
High: 1100 lumens; 2 hours, 15 minutes run-time; 115 m beam range
Mid: 330 lumens; 7 hours, 45 minutes run-time; 61 m beam range
Low: 50 lumens; 40 hours run-time; 25 m beam range
Ultra-low: 2 lumens; 380 hours run-time; 4 m beam range
Strobe: 4400 lumens
*The run-time for momentary turbo is tested without temperature regulation. Turbo is only accessible when using a 21700 i series battery with at least 15 A discharge current.
Tested to ANSI/PLATO FL1-2019 standards in laboratory conditions using the included lithium-ion battery. The data may vary slightly in real world use depending on battery type, individual usage habits and environmental factors.
