This Nitecore UMS2 is a speedy charger that is cable of 3 A maximum output in a single slot with one battery charging or 2 A maximum output per slot with two batteries charging when using a QC 2.0 input (Quick Charge).
When the charger is powered by a Quick Charge device or Quick Charge adaptor, the words 'Quick Charge' will appear on the screen. If a Qucik Charge method isn't being used the charge will charge at the standard output providing 2 A maximum output in a single slot with one battery charging or 1 A maximum output per slot with two batteries charging.
Other features include battery type detection, automatic power level detection, automatic voltage and charging mode selection (excluding LiFePO4 and 3.8 V batteries), energy efficient LCD display, manual selection of charging cut-off voltage and charging current, over discharged battery activation and all the usual charging protection measures as standard with Nitecore chargers.
To use the charger connect to a power source and insert a compatible battery. The LCD screen will display the battery health of 'good or 'poor', the internal resistance (mΩ), charging current (mA), battery voltage (V), charged volume (mAh) and charging time. Under charge mode it will also show battery type selected (li-ion, LiFePO4 or Ni-MH/Ni-Cd), cut-off voltage (4.3 V, 4.2 V or 3.7V) and the charging mode (CV, CC or -dV/dt). The V button on the charger can be single pressed to cycle between the display information and the C button on the charger can be single pressed to switch been the data for slot 1 and slot 2.
If you want to change the charging settings manually, this can be done by holding down the C button to enter the manual mode and further instruction can be found in the UMS2 manual on how to set this.
If a battery is inserted with reverse polarity or is short circuited the display will show 'EE EE' and flash to notify the user. The charger can also activate over discharger lithium-ion batteries and will automatically attempt to do this, but if it cannot be revived the screen will display 'EE EE' to show it is damaged.
An optimised charging programme for IMR batteries monitors the entire charging process to ensure the end voltage is always within safe limits which helps extend battery life. The UMS2 also has IMR battery restoration feature and if an over discharged IMR battery is inserted, the charger will display 'EE EE' but it will not automatically revive it and instead the V button has to be held down to enter restoration mode.
While charging is in progress the five power bars will slowly fill up and once full charging will be complete and the UMS2 will automatically stop charging.
