The Fenix WT25R is a pivoting work light that features a rechargeable battery and is capable of four brightness levels and two flash modes, with a maximum output of 1000 lumens from a Cree XP-L HI LED.

You can use it attached to a pocket and aim the light forward without having to remove it from your person, or with the strong magnetic tail end it can be attached to a magnetic surface for hands free use and the head can be angled into the most convenient position for the task at hand. As well as it's adjustable head which can be moved from it's vertical position to horizontal within a 105° angle, the WT25R has another show stealing function with it's USB magnetic charging ability.

The WT25R is powered by the included rechargeable 3400 mAh 18650 lithium-ion battery which is charged up inside the torch. Plug the included cable into a USB-A power source, and then connect the magnetic charging end to the magnetic charging port on the side of the torch. The charging indicator on the top of the cable will turn red to show charging in progress and turn green once charging is complete after approximately 4 hours, 30 minutes when charging a 3400 mAh battery.

A single button is on the side of the torch and controls all functions. Press and hold the button for 0.5 seconds to turn the light on/off and once the light is turned on it will either be in general mode at the last brightness setting used or in strobe if set to flash mode. Each single press in general will cycle through low, mid, high and turbo, and each press in flash will cycle between strobe and SOS. To change between the general mode and flash mode, hold the button for 1.2 seconds while the light is on.

To prevent accidental activation in transit the WT25R has a lockout mode that can be activated by two quick presses of the button while the light is off, and can be unlocked again in the same way. Two blinks of the low output will indicate that the light has been locked/unlocked.

Four LED indicators sit within the button and light up to show the battery status when the button is pressed with the light off. Four LEDs is 80-100% power, three LEDs is 60-80% power, two LEDs is 40-60% power, one LED is 20-40% and one flashing LED is less than 20% power and the battery should be charged as soon as possible when at this stage.

Intelligent overheat protection will automatically downshift the brightness slightly if the internal temperature reaches 60°C or above in turbo or high mode, and once the torch has cooled it will allow the user to reselect the higher outputs.

The large pocket clip allows for easy attachment to clothing or a back pack for sturdy carrying and a lanyard also provide extra safety when the torch is being carried in the hand.

Perfect for pest control

I've been looking for the perfect torch for some time now. I needed something versatile, long lasting, small and convenient to charge. The ability to clip to clothing whilst in a loft is something I never considered and yet I don't know how I managed without it. The square body is also a very practical idea for a torch. Often I'll lay torches down to move around in a loft, or I'll look under kitchen units, in both scenarios normal torches would roll around (one even rolled down a wall cavity). Not this bad boy though! Very happy with the torch, heard good things about Fenix so lets hope it holds up the test of time.

Illuminating

On the lowest level the light is a little green. Much better at the other illumination level. Takes a while to charge through the USB interface. The battery lasts well. Good for walking the dog at night around poorly illuminated roads.

What do I think of my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch. Ace!

I bought my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch quite a while ago. It has taken me a while to get to know what this amazing bit of kit can do! Well it's a torch! yes but's it's more than that! Yes I know it can be useful when taking the rubbish out to find the item you dropped out of the bag blah blah. Now I am a bit older & a bit more savvy, I have bought some work trousers with many pockets in them for all the things it seems you need to carry around in life. In the long pocket next to my Biro pen & propelling pencil is my torch with it's lanyard attached. So I always have it with me. I have found it useful in many ways, one of which was when I broke down in my very old car, I knew I would have to wait a long time for recovery, so I looked up on my phone what to do on my phone, while changing the light settings on my torch when I needed to find the problem. I had a Hi Vis jacket on, but i was in the middle of nowhere. So I used the flashing setting when the van got near so he could find me that bit easier. Yes it's still a torch you say, yes, another time I was walking down an alleyway on a short cut home, when out popped some unwanted people who I was unsure of, as I got near them they asked if they could use my phone, with that I selected the brightest mode, shone it in their faces to temporarily blind them & ran as fast as I could. So for me it's more than a torch. Something I hardly ever leave home without, useful when you lift drops his keys in an unlit pub car park in the rain on a very cold night.
Other stuff. I find the small screen that displays various different things invaluable. Especially if you are going out on a cold winters night, has the torch got enough of a charge, well you can check that, the slimness of it also comes in handy when in your best bib & tucker (a suit) you can easily hide it in your inside pocket. How long does it last, a long time, I have put a bit of string on a label for when I charge it, I charge it so infrequently I nearly forget which one it is, I do use it a lot! Cost, yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for, very good quality. I really recommend it! Mister XR
