The BioLite HeadLamp 200 is a compact, rechargeable head torch that weighs in at only 50 grams. It is available in four different colours and offers a main white LED output as well as a white strobe, red light output and a red strobe.
3D Slimfit construction prevents bounce as the housing is integrated directly into the headband for a flush front that stays put, while the moisture wicking smart fabric of the headband keeps you comfortable and dry. Additionally the headband features a reflective strip on the back to keep you seen and safe.
The central spot LED provides a maximum output of 200 lumens white light and a beam range of up to 50 metres, while the flood LED to the right provides the red output with a beam range of up to 8 metres. Both white and red outputs are dimmable to get the ideal brightness, and the head torch has a hinged bracket, allowing the light to be tilted for the best angle.
A single button on the top controls all the outputs, and will cycle through the outputs with each press within 0.5 seconds of each other in the order of red flood, white spot, red strobe, white strobe and off. If in any mode for longer that half a second the next press will instead turn the light off. To dim the brightness between high and low in either the red flood or white spot setting, simply hold down the button and release at your desired output. The brightness will decreases or increase, and flash to let you know once it reaches the maximum at either end.
The HeadLamp 200 has mode memory and will remember the last used setting for 12 hours when you next turn it back on, which is useful if you are carrying out a task in a particular mode that requires you to keep turning the light on and off.
A power indicator is built into the flood LED and will display the remaining battery power when the torch is turned off, or if you press the button while in lockout mode. Two green flashes is 50-100% charge, two red flashes is 0-50% charge and four red flashes indicates that the battery needs to be charged as soon as possible.
To charge the integrated 700 mAh lithium-ion battery, reveal the micro USB port by tilting the head lamp forward and then lifting the dust cover on the side. Then simply plug the included micro USB cable into the charging port and the other end into a suitable USB power source. The power indicator will begin pulsing green to show charging is in progress, and then turn off once charging is complete. Remove the cable and ensure the dust cover is properly replace to maintain the IPX4 water resistance rating
A lockout function prevents accidental activation in transit and the HeadLamp 200 is put into lockout mode by holding the button down for 8 seconds while the light is off until the white LED blinks twice. To exit lockout mode repeat the process again, and the white light will blink once. This will also need to be done when you first take it out of the packaging as it is stored in lockout mode to preserve the battery.
Thanks to the adjustable clips on the headband, the torch can fit both children and adults, and the band is adjusted by pulling on both clips at the same time to tighten or pushing them closer to loosen the headband.
