Fenix ARE-D1 Single Bay Li-ion Battery Charger

£15.90 £16.98

The Fenix ARE-D1 is a lithium-ion and NiMH smart multi charger with a single charging bay, and features a digital display and a power bank function.

It is suitable for charging the following batteries;

NiMH/NiCd 1.2 V batteries:
AAA, AA and C cell

Lithium-ion 3.6/3.7 V batteries:
10440, 14500, 16340/RCR123A, 18650, 21700 and 26650

The included micro USB cable plugs into the micro USB port at end of the charger, and the standard USB at the other end of the cable plugs into a USB port on a computer, power bank, 5 V solar panel, USB car charger or USB mains charger and the LCD display will light up for 2 seconds to show power is being provided and will then display a battery symbol if no battery is inserted, the the screen will turn off after 30 seconds.

Insert a compatible battery with the polarity the correct way round and the battery type, capacity and charging status will be displayed followed by a battery symbol that will flash for 8 seconds, during which time you can press the orange button to select between the charging currents of 0.5 A, 1 A and 2 A for lithium-ion batteries, or 0.5 A and 1 A for NiMH / Ni-Cd batteries.

The battery will then begin charging and the LCD screen will display the charging status indicator bar on the left hand side which will indicate the following;

One flashing: Less than 20%
One on & one flashing: 21-40%
Two on & one flashing: 41-60%
Three on & one flashing: 61-80%
Four on & one flashing: More than 80%
Five on: Fully charged

The right hand side will display charging stats and can be cycled through in the order of charging current (A), battery voltage (V), charging capacity (Ah) and charging time (T) by pressing the orange button. The LCD screen can be turned off by holding the button for two seconds, and turned back on with a single press.

The charger is fully protected against short circuit, over current, over voltage and reverse polarity assuring the utmost safety and taking the best possible care of your batteries. There is no trickle charge for lithium-ion batteries to prevent overcharging once fully charged, and the charging current (A) will read 0. NiMH / Ni-Cd batteries will receive a trickle charge of 3-5 mA to ensure they are fully charged.

If short circuiting is detected then the charger will automatically stop charging, or if the battery is inserted the wrong way round then charging will not commence.

This model has the advantage of a USB port power output, so you can use the ARE-D1 as a power bank, enabling you to charge external devices at a maximum output of 2 A. Insert a suitable charged battery and then connect the charging cable of the device to the standard USB port of the ARE-D1 to begin discharging the battery in order to charge your device.

The LCD screen will display the battery level and voltage during the discharging process. Only lithium-ion batteries can be discharged to charge external devices, and if the battery is being charged at the same time then the power bank function will be disabled until the battery is fully charged. A small charging current mode of 100 mA can also be activated if required.

Note: Always use in accordance with instruction manual and read before first use.

Fast and Efficient Service

The Fenix battery, charger, charger plug and spare battery case were exactly as ordered, worked as advertised and were posted quickly and packed well. Great job and I will buy from here again.

A Brilliant Flexible Charger

My only complaint is that the display is very small.

Excellent little charger

I wish I'd bought a 2 bay one now if they did one. Very smooth sliding action on the negative polarity contact (unlike another I could mention), informative display of battery voltage and charge into the battery (Ah), plus course charge state indicator. I've only used it at 1A with the Fenix and Nitecore batteries but it works as described. A nice touch is that that even if the charger is not connected to power, it displays the battery voltage momentarily when the battery is inserted.
