The Ledlenser SEO7R is a rechargeable high quality, head torch with a single power white LED that provides a maximum brightness output of 220 lumens and also offers a red LED output.

Red light is useful for low level lighting, preserving the users night vision and animal spotting. The white and red light can be switched between by holding the button down on the top of the torch for 2 seconds.

The white light cycles through the three settings of high, low, optisense auto dim, flash and then off with each press. When changed to the red light, each press cycles through red, red flash and then off. If in any setting for longer that 2 seconds, the next press will turn the head torch off.

When in the optisense mode the output will automatically adjust between 100%-10% depending on how close you are to an object and therefore preventing glare from the light bouncing back by being too bright. The white light is also manually dimmable between 15% - 100% by double pressing and holding the switch and then releasing at the desired output, and will be remembered next time it is accessed.

The light can be focused from a flood beam to a spot beam by twisting the focusing bezel outwards and the hinged bracket allows the SEO7R to be swivelled down within a 60° angle so that you can position the light where you need it.

A lock out function is also featured, which prevents accidental activation of the light when not in use. Simply hold the button down for 5 seconds and the red LED will flash once to indicate it is in lock out mode. To exit lock out mode, hold the button down again for another 5 seconds.

The SEO7R is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. To charge the battery, remove it from the head torch and then insert the included charging cable into the micro USB port located on the battery itself and the other end into a computer or compatible USB adaptor (not included). A red light will come on to show charging is in progress and will go green once charging is complete.

A choice of constant current mode or energy saving mode is available and they will each offer different outputs and run-times. They are changed between by firstly turning the light on and then holding down the button for 3 seconds. The light will either come on at 100% power and gradually decrease until off to indicate energy saving, or it will come on 100% before turning off to indicate constant current. The light is defaulted to energy saving mode.

Weak battery enclosure latch

Charging the battery involves accessing the Mini USB on the battery by opening the back of the torch after unclipping a plastic latch. This process is fiddly and eventually the latch breaks.

Amazing little torch

Even through I’d check the dimensions the torch was much smaller than I expected when it arrived. It feels great in hand, very robust and machined to a high standard. Various modes to choose from and when on high it is amazing how much light this tiny torch produces. Run time seems fine so far also. If in doubt, buy it and you won’t regret. As a side note, Torch Direct…. Quick and efficient service. Full marks :)

It’s not a torch.
The MI is the “Military” version.
It flashes IR or green and can be solid IR or green.
The green is very bright and visible.
The IR is 950nm and if you have the right thing also very bright. iPhone can just about see it.

On the lowest level the light is a little green. Much better at the other illumination level. Takes a while to charge through the USB interface. The battery lasts well. Good for walking the dog at night around poorly illuminated roads.

What do I think of my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch. Ace!

I bought my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch quite a while ago. It has taken me a while to get to know what this amazing bit of kit can do! Well it's a torch! yes but's it's more than that! Yes I know it can be useful when taking the rubbish out to find the item you dropped out of the bag blah blah. Now I am a bit older & a bit more savvy, I have bought some work trousers with many pockets in them for all the things it seems you need to carry around in life. In the long pocket next to my Biro pen & propelling pencil is my torch with it's lanyard attached. So I always have it with me. I have found it useful in many ways, one of which was when I broke down in my very old car, I knew I would have to wait a long time for recovery, so I looked up on my phone what to do on my phone, while changing the light settings on my torch when I needed to find the problem. I had a Hi Vis jacket on, but i was in the middle of nowhere. So I used the flashing setting when the van got near so he could find me that bit easier. Yes it's still a torch you say, yes, another time I was walking down an alleyway on a short cut home, when out popped some unwanted people who I was unsure of, as I got near them they asked if they could use my phone, with that I selected the brightest mode, shone it in their faces to temporarily blind them & ran as fast as I could. So for me it's more than a torch. Something I hardly ever leave home without, useful when you lift drops his keys in an unlit pub car park in the rain on a very cold night.
Other stuff. I find the small screen that displays various different things invaluable. Especially if you are going out on a cold winters night, has the torch got enough of a charge, well you can check that, the slimness of it also comes in handy when in your best bib & tucker (a suit) you can easily hide it in your inside pocket. How long does it last, a long time, I have put a bit of string on a label for when I charge it, I charge it so infrequently I nearly forget which one it is, I do use it a lot! Cost, yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for, very good quality. I really recommend it! Mister XR
