The Coast Polysteel 600 is tough and ready for action, now updated with a maximum output of 1000 lumens on the highest setting.

It features a stainless steel core that protects the inner components, meaning the Polysteel 600 is drop proof, crush proof and also storm proof. The outer casing is made of lightweight polymer, displaying a comfortable non-slip grip design.

A half press of the tactical tail switch from off cycles through the three brightness levels, high, mid and low, giving you the option to choose the right level for your application. Quick half presses of the tail switch from off cycles through the three brightness levels in the order of mid, high, low and off with each press, giving you the option to choose the right level for your application. Alternatively if the torch is turned fully on and off in quick succession it will also cycle through mid, high and low. If the button isn't pressed in quick succession, the light will revert to come on in mid as default with a single full press.

Coast's Pure Beam Focusing Optic System focuses the beam between a spot beam with a range of up to 267 metres, and a flood beam with no dark rings typically associated with focusing torches, by twisting the head of the torch backwards and forwards.

Powered by 4 x AA alkaline batteries, which are easily sourced and replaced.

Powerful torch

I took this out the other night to see what it's like. It puts out a great deal of light on it's top setting and there's good adjustment between flood and spot. Apart from outdoor activities, this would be a good torch to keep in the car in the event you needed to change a wheel in the dark. I've only just bought this so obviously can't give a long term review but first impressions are very good. The 5 year warranty is reassuring.

Neat Unit

I'm very happy with this device. Initially I thought the slider mechanism felt a bit flimsy, but I have now worked through my stock of old batteries and everything works well. A bonus for me is that it will also test button cells, which my previous tested did not. Overall, a good piece of kit at a good price.

Amazing little torch

Even through I’d check the dimensions the torch was much smaller than I expected when it arrived. It feels great in hand, very robust and machined to a high standard. Various modes to choose from and when on high it is amazing how much light this tiny torch produces. Run time seems fine so far also. If in doubt, buy it and you won’t regret. As a side note, Torch Direct…. Quick and efficient service. Full marks :)

Main torch head and flexible have focusing collars.
The tiny LED head is like a fibre optic head i had for a maglite. Great for inspection inside small spaces. Very useful multifunction set.

Very bright for its size as a marker.
It’s not a torch.
The MI is the “Military” version.
It flashes IR or green and can be solid IR or green.
The green is very bright and visible.
The IR is 950nm and if you have the right thing also very bright. iPhone can just about see it.

On the lowest level the light is a little green. Much better at the other illumination level. Takes a while to charge through the USB interface. The battery lasts well. Good for walking the dog at night around poorly illuminated roads.

What do I think of my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch. Ace!

I bought my Nitecore EDC27 Slim Rechargeable LED Torch quite a while ago. It has taken me a while to get to know what this amazing bit of kit can do! Well it's a torch! yes but's it's more than that! Yes I know it can be useful when taking the rubbish out to find the item you dropped out of the bag blah blah. Now I am a bit older & a bit more savvy, I have bought some work trousers with many pockets in them for all the things it seems you need to carry around in life. In the long pocket next to my Biro pen & propelling pencil is my torch with it's lanyard attached. So I always have it with me. I have found it useful in many ways, one of which was when I broke down in my very old car, I knew I would have to wait a long time for recovery, so I looked up on my phone what to do on my phone, while changing the light settings on my torch when I needed to find the problem. I had a Hi Vis jacket on, but i was in the middle of nowhere. So I used the flashing setting when the van got near so he could find me that bit easier. Yes it's still a torch you say, yes, another time I was walking down an alleyway on a short cut home, when out popped some unwanted people who I was unsure of, as I got near them they asked if they could use my phone, with that I selected the brightest mode, shone it in their faces to temporarily blind them & ran as fast as I could. So for me it's more than a torch. Something I hardly ever leave home without, useful when you lift drops his keys in an unlit pub car park in the rain on a very cold night.
Other stuff. I find the small screen that displays various different things invaluable. Especially if you are going out on a cold winters night, has the torch got enough of a charge, well you can check that, the slimness of it also comes in handy when in your best bib & tucker (a suit) you can easily hide it in your inside pocket. How long does it last, a long time, I have put a bit of string on a label for when I charge it, I charge it so infrequently I nearly forget which one it is, I do use it a lot! Cost, yes it's expensive, but you get what you pay for, very good quality. I really recommend it! Mister XR

They don't deliver yesterday, but . . . . .

I ordered 3 items on the afternoon of Monday, 8th April, including one that was to be custom engraved. Twelve minutes later I was informed my order had been despatched. At 10 a.m on Tuesday, 9th April my order was delivered. It took me nearly as long to extract the goods from the manufacturer's bubble packaging !
